How do you work the mean, median, mode and range out of a set of data?
Heyy! I have a maths assessment due in on Monday and I need to work out the mean, median, mode and range out of a set of data, but I'm not sure how too... I have a rough idea but I'm still not sure. Anyone know how? Any answers appreciated gratefully. Thanks
firstly, it helps to put the data into numerical order, starting from smallest to largest.
Mean - to find the mean you add up all the numbers and divide this answer by how many numbers there are
Median - this is the number that is in the middle when your data is organised in numerical order. if you find that two numbers are in the middle then add them together and divide by two.
Mode - this is the number which appears most often or the number there is most of
Range - to find the range, you take the smallest number away from the largest number
