I just got some Uniden GMR1588-2CK 15 mile 2 Way Radios, and they wont go about 12 miles. can anyone help??
My friend and I live about 12 miles apart according to mapquest, as I drove home from her house we could only hear eachother for about 1 mile, maybe 2. We are on a high frequency level and use the boost button. It snowed earlier in the day but it wasnt snowing at the time, i dont know if that would have any effect. Please help, we really want to use them from our houses!
I agree with Felix.
12 mile range will only be achieved under the best of circumstances, which includes "direct line of sight". Unfortuantely, that is not the circumstances under which most people use them.
I once talked over 50 miles using a Ham Radio handy-talkie operating in the 144 MHz band with only 5 watts....
How did I do that? I was at the top of a mountain at about 8000 ft above sea level talking line of sight to a Ham Radio repeater tower about 50 miles away (as the crow flies... literally).
